Nothing goes better with football than a platter of loaded nachos. Good news for Wendy’s fans: the restaurant is adding an intriguing new take on the famous game-day snack, as well as a cheesy side, to menus just in time for football season.
Starting Thursday, August 22, the fast-food behemoth will offer a new Loaded Nacho Cheeseburger at participating outlets across the country.
Wendy’s trademark square beef patties, poblano queso, spicy chipotle sauce, crunchy corn, tortilla strips, lettuce, tomato, and American cheese are served on a jalapeño cheddar bread.
“We’ve spent over two years perfecting this sandwich because we wanted to deliver that nacho platter experience you get when you’re watching a big game, but all in one bite,” said Jay Drumm, Wendy’s culinary innovation manager.
The sandwich is the newest addition to Wendy’s Made to Crave menu, which consists of burgers and sandwiches with “craveable, mind-blowing, unforgettable flavors.” Drumm stated that the sandwich has a mildly spicy kick, but it is not so hot that most customers will find it unappealing. On a scale of one to ten, he rated the spice “around that six range.”
If you prefer chicken over beef but still want to try the Loaded Nacho Cheeseburger tastes, Wendy’s now offers a Loaded Nacho Chicken Sandwich with all of the same toppings.
Along with the new sandwiches, the restaurant is introducing new loaded queso fries. The dish includes a bed of Wendy’s fries topped with fresh cheddar cheese and the same poblano queso. Wendy’s worldwide vice president of culinary innovation, John Li, explained that they sought to pair the new Loaded Nacho sandwiches with a loaded fry and discovered that queso was the “perfect topping.”
“With every Made to Crave sandwich we build, we’re thinking about the complement to that product, and it’s typically loaded fries.”
The Loaded Nacho Cheeseburger is currently $7.59, and the Queso Fries are $3.99 near me in New Jersey, but prices may change depending on location.
The cheesy sandwiches and fries aren’t the only new Wendy’s offerings on menus today. Customers may now try Wendy’s new English muffin breakfast sandwiches, which were announced last week.
Breakfast options include a fresh-cracked egg, melted American cheese, and the customer’s choice of oven-baked Applewood smoked bacon or grilled sausage patty. The English muffins also include a savory buttery spread with hints of brown sugar sweetness and fresh black pepper.
The new breakfast and Loaded Nacho offerings follow Wendy’s new Frosty Cream Cold Brew line, which debuted late last month. The caffeinated drinks, which come in chocolate, vanilla, and caramel flavors, are made with cold brew coffee and Frosty creamer and served over ice.
