Popeyes Is Launching Its First-Ever Dessert Biscuit

Aside from fried chicken and chicken sandwiches, which sparked a fast-food rivalry, one of Popeyes’ most famous products is its distinctive biscuits.

The biscuits, first introduced in 1983, have become a typical Popeyes side dish and are still a menu mainstay 40 years later.

The reasons for their appeal are widely known. The biscuits are the ideal balance of buttery, salty, and fluffy, and they taste even better when heated.

If you’re a huge admirer of these biscuits and have a sweet tooth, today is your lucky day. Popeyes recently updated a staple menu item and introduced its first-ever sweet dessert biscuit, just in time for spring.

On March 27, Popeyes began introducing their new Strawberry Biscuits in participating restaurants around the country.

The updated menu item combines Popeyes’ distinctive biscuit dough with “a deliciously sweet strawberry dessert twist” and a drizzle of creamy icing.

Fans will need to move quickly if they want to try the Strawberry Biscuits, since they will only be available for a limited time.

“We are thrilled to introduce the latest culinary creation to our dessert menu, the irresistible Strawberry Biscuits,” Amy Alarcon, vice president of culinary innovation, stated.

“The perfect combination of our classic, buttery biscuits and the flavor of ripe, fruity strawberries, Strawberry Biscuits offer a delicious touch of sweetness to any meal.”

For as long as they’re available, the Strawberry Biscuits will provide Popeyes customers with an extra sweet option to finish their meal, building on the chain’s current dessert menu, which includes a Cinnamon Apple Pie and a Blueberry Lemon Cream Cheese Fried Pie.

In the past, the business has introduced a variety of unique and interesting limited-time dessert alternatives, such as filled beignets, new fried pie varieties, and a Strawberry Cheesecake Cup.

While costs may vary by area, Popeyes offers the Strawberry Biscuits a la carte for $1.79. Customers can also have two biscuits for the suggested price of $2.99 or four biscuits for $5.39.

The introduction of the Strawberry Biscuits isn’t the only Popeyes news to break this week. The fried chicken restaurant also announced the return of the Big Box, a meal package introduced in 2014 and featured on the menu multiple times since then.

This time, Popeyes customers who order the Big Box will have the option of an eight-piece order of chicken nuggets or two pieces of the iconic bone-in chicken, along with two normal sides and a biscuit, for $6.99.

While the Big Box offers customers a significant amount of food for $6.99, the deal has not been immune to inflation.

When the retailer reintroduced the Big Box in January 2022, shoppers could get the offer for $6, roughly a dollar less than the current pricing. The $6 pricing point last year was also more than the $5 Big Box Popeyes gave in 2016 and 2018.

Popeyes is also introducing a new meal package, the Family Feast, to its menu for a limited time. For $29.99, consumers can get six pieces of trademark bone-in chicken, two sandwiches, two large sides, and four biscuits.

The bone-in chicken and sandwiches will be available in both traditional and spicy forms as part of the bargain.

The Big Box and Family Feast, like the Strawberry Biscuits, will only be offered at participating restaurants worldwide for a limited time.

Meanwhile, Popeyes customers may still order the seasonal Flounder Fish Sandwich and Shrimp Tackle Box, which returned to menus for a limited time prior to Lent last month.
